Chemical Peels

Chemical peels range from superficial to deep, offering varying degrees of skin resurfacing. While light treatments are made of gentler compounds and designed to help acne-prone, oily skin, medium, and deeper peels may be more effective for removing pigmented blemishes and correcting rough textured skin. Nubo Spa’s collection of chemical peels includes:

  • Age-Defying Peel
  • Brightening Peel
  • Acne-Clearing Peel

At our medspa, our goal is to help you find the exact formulation for your skin type and tone, highlighting your natural complexion while exfoliating from deep within.

What is the VI Peel?

One of our most effective, medium-strength peels is the VI peel, equipped with brightening agents such as organic kojic acid, hydroquinone, retinoic acid, and vitamin C. Other agents of this peel serve to stimulate more collagen production for tighter skin and protect against free radical damage that causes accelerated aging.

Facials

A facial can be considered a less intensive version of a chemical peel that does not include removing the surface layer to give way to fresher skin. Instead a facial utilizes medical-grade serums to detoxify the skin to reduce acne, inflammation, and dryness. Some of our facials have gentle exfoliating abilities, while others are more geared to sensitive skin that needs more hydrating, protective care. Our range of facials includes:

  • Sensitive Skin Treatment
  • Age-Defying Treatment
  • Nourish and Hydrate
  • Nubo Express
  • Brightening Treatment
  • Acne-Clearing Treatment

Your Nubo Spa provider will carefully assess your skincare concerns to ensure you benefit from the most optimal treatment available.

What is a Hydrafacial?

A Hydrafacial is a medical-grade facial that cleanses, exfoliates, and hydrates the skin all at once. To begin the treatment, your skincare clinician will deeply cleanse your pores with soothing compounds and remove superficial dirt, oil, and makeup. In the exfoliation phase of treatment, they will apply light chemical peel ingredients- this phase should cause some tingling sensations, but it should not feel like burning or stinging. After this step, the Hydrafacial technology will utilize vortex suction to remove deeper impurities from the skin, helping to boost blood circulation to the area and reduce puffiness. Your clinician will use a customized mixture of hydrating serums to soothe your skin to finalize the treatment.

IPL Photofacial

The IPL photofacial uses a broad range of light wavelengths to erase fine lines and wrinkles and eliminate red lesions like spider veins and other broken capillaries. It is a milder form of light-based therapy that leaves the surface of the skin (the epidermis) unharmed while targeting the dermis layer.

When light pulses come into contact with red or brown pigment, it breaks these molecules down so that the skin can flush out the sources of hyperpigmentation. The light also creates micro-injuries that prompt the skin to make more collagen and elastin, the fibers needed for the most rejuvenated, youthful skin.

PDO Thread Lift

Facial Rejuvenation Nubo Spa

A PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive alternative to a facelift, offering similar elevating results without the downtime required. These threads are made of polydioxanone (PDO), a dissolvable, biocompatible material often used in surgical procedures. (1) During the procedure, your clinician will only need to apply local anesthesia and strategically insert the thread with a hypodermic needle, placing it precisely within the skin.

With this treatment, you can enhance the positioning of the eyebrows, corners of the eyes, mouth, cheeks, jawline, and neck with a relatively simple procedure that takes less than an hour. The thread will completely dissolve within about 6 months, but your results will last a year or more as it continues to have a lasting collagen-boosting effect. The treatment area will appear more youthful and firm long after your body metabolizes the thread.

PRP Facial Rejuvenation

PRP is a unique treatment that takes advantage of the healing compounds within your blood to refresh your appearance. To perform this procedure, your clinician will draw your blood and take the sample to collect its platelets, proteins that usually gather in wounded areas to rebuild the tissues in the area. Platelets have over 1500 bioactive molecules- including molecules called growth factors– that trigger skin healing processes. (2)

Your skincare specialist can then prepare this platelet-rich plasma (PRP) solution into injections and administer them at varying depths to rejuvenate the skin. The growth factors will greatly contribute to the texture, complexion, and tautness of the skin. Many clinicians refer to this process as a “vampire facial”, since it only includes these vital components from your blood and no unnecessary additives.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is a skin-tightening treatment that applies ultrasound- a type of sound energy- directly to the skin. With this non-surgical rejuvenation, you can elevate and tighten the brows, lax chin skin and fat, neck skin, jowls, cheeks, and décolletage skin. The ultrasound converts to thermal energy, briefly reaching temperatures of about 140 degrees Fahrenheit in the treatment without damaging the surface of the skin. Instead, it targets the dermal layer and deeper underlying tissues.

Alongside its tightening effects, you can expect a gradual influx of new collagen over the following months after one treatment session. Your clinician can apply topical anesthesia to minimize any discomfort you may experience, but you will likely find it highly tolerable and not need it.

Vivace RF Microneedling

The Vivace RF microneedling procedure is a minimally invasive treatment that creates micro-injuries with fine needles, stimulating the dermis to jumpstart collagen production. When coupled with radiofrequency (RF), a kind of electromagnetic energy, it provides an immediate tightening effect to the existing collagen. During the procedure, your clinician will administer these microneedles to the treatment area, reducing signs of aging, scars, and even pore size. Though the needles enter the skin at a shallow depth, your clinician will lather your skin with topical anesthetic to minimize any discomfort.

Your Personal Consultation at Nubo Spa

During your consultation, your skincare clinician assesses your skin texture, visible signs of aging, and any irregularities that are concerning you. They may ask you about any topical remedies or medications you have tried to resolve these issues and if you have any allergies or sensitivities. They will also talk with you about your level of commitment to treatment since some of the available options at Nubo Spa will take multiple sessions to help you gain the results you desire. Some forms of facial rejuvenation at our medspa only require one treatment session, but there may be more healing time involved.

Regardless of which one you choose, your clinician will ensure that you thoroughly understand all aspects of your personalized treatment plan, including preparation and recovery time.

FAQ

Can you combine more than one facial rejuvenation treatment at once?

Yes, combining more than one treatment is perfectly safe, and these treatments should enhance and complement each other. For example, microneedling devices like Vivace RF can create microchannels in the skin for healing serums, moisturizers, and cleansers to penetrate the outermost layer of the skin.

Are chemical peels painful?

Chemical peels are not painful procedures. With lighter treatments, patients may experience some stinging, but it is quite tolerable. With more intensive peels with the most anti-aging effect, clinicians typically administer a sedative medication or other medication to keep their patients comfortable.

What is the difference between a facial and a chemical peel?

The capabilities of facial and chemical peels overlap, but in general, chemical peels offer more comprehensive benefits. Facials can treat mild, surface-level issues such as dryness, acne, excessive oil production, and inflammation. Medium and deep peels can address these and help erase wrinkles and other forms of sun damage, like age spots.

What is the most effective form of facial rejuvenation?

Some of the more effective minimally invasive treatments include deep chemical peels and microneedling with RF. These treatments can revitalize from deep within the dermal layer.
