Vivace Experience Nubo Spa Berkeley

The Vivace Experience® is a microneedling treatment equipped with radiofrequency (RF) energy to help patients erase acne scars, fine lines, stretch marks, and crepey skin. This minimally invasive procedure can also reduce enlarged, oily pores and promote clearer, more even textured skin.

Vivace relies on the application of fine, short needles on the skin creating micro-injuries and triggering a boost in skin healing processes. With radiofrequency waves- a type of electromagnetic current- the dermis of the skin experiences collagen contraction that corrects mild skin laxity. Vivace only administers its needles approximately 0.5 to 3.5 mm within the skin, so the procedure only requires topical numbing cream, and the recovery is quick and painless. Patients can undergo multiple treatment sessions to continue to amplify and maintain their results.

To find out for yourself what the Vivace Experience® can offer you, consider booking a consultation at Nubo Spa, a top-rated medspa located in Berkeley, CA. How Does Microneedling Work?

Microneedling is an extremely popular aesthetic treatment that uses needles to trigger cellular repair and regeneration in the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin. Depending on patients’ specific cosmetic concerns and skin thickness, microneedling technicians customize the depth at which the microneedles enter the skin. With these unique settings of the Vivace device, technicians can treat almost any area of the face or body.

The physiological response behind microneedling is what makes it such an effective procedure for signs of aging and the elimination of blemishes. It stimulates skin revitalization by releasing fibroblast growth factor, a type of molecule responsible for signaling the skin to increase the amount of fibroblast cells. Within the dermis, fibroblasts are the most abundant type of cell and create collagen and elastin, necessary protein fibers required for youthful skin. While collagen improves skin rigidity and combats laxity, elastin gives the skin the ability to recoil and stretch. By restoring more of these fibers, patients can benefit from a smoother, firmer appearance with an even complexion.

Not only do microneedles increase fibroblasts over time, but they also work to mechanically break down and promote the rearrangement of collagen fibers. For example, many types of scars have collagen that is organized in a parallel formation, rather than the perpendicular arrangement characteristic of healthy skin. With the help of Vivace, the microneedles can gradually eliminate acne scars and other types of atrophic scars from injury or illness. Even without the help of RF, microneedles encourage more blood flow to the treatment area, speeding up scar repair. (1)

What is Radiofrequency?

Radiofrequency is a type of electromagnetism used in a variety of medical settings and procedures. For example, many surgeons use devices with RF to destroy cellulite from underneath the skin. (2) Other devices equipped with RF can reduce subcutaneous fat without the need for any incisions. (3) In the context of the Vivace Experience®, radiofrequency pulses target the collagen fibers, creating a tightening effect that enhances the influx of new collagen.

The Benefits of Vivace

With Vivace, you can promote skin health from deep within, erasing an array of bothersome irregularities and aging concerns:

  • Fine wrinkles
  • Mildly lax skin in sensitive areas, such as around the eyes and mouth
  • Dull, rough skin
  • Age spots and other types of hyperpigmentation

  • Vivace delivers RF deep into the dermis- not the surface- making it safe and effective for all skin tones and reducing the risk of hyperpigmentation.
  • After your treatment series, you can expect to maintain rejuvenating results for up to 6 months.
  • Without using any serums or creams, Vivace invokes your skin’s natural regenerative abilities.

Preparation

Ensuring that your skin is in optimal condition before the procedure will help promote long-lasting, quality outcomes with Vivace. You should:

  • Avoid UV rays from sunlight and tanning beds. Even if you do not develop a sunburn, it can still damage your skin. You should use a daily sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more.
  • Avoid waxing or using hair removal products in the treatment area.
  • Avoid using harsh exfoliants, astringents, and retinol/retinoids in the treatment area.
  • Refrain from using blood-thinning medications or NSAIDs that could cause more pinpoint bleeding or bruising than expected. The same applies to alcoholic beverages, as well.
  • Speak with your Nubo Spa provider about your history of cold sore outbreaks. They may prescribe an antiviral medication to prevent reoccurrence.

Vivace Microneedling Treatment Steps

To begin the Vivace Experience® treatment, your medspa provider will cleanse the treatment area and apply topical anesthetic to ensure comfort throughout the procedure. This anesthetic will take about 30 to 45 minutes to settle in. Once the skin is prepared and ready, your provider will apply the advanced robotic motor technology of the Vivace system, delivering the microneedles at a precise, controlled depth into the target area. The needles will enter about 0.5 to 3.5 mm into the skin. Simultaneously, they will deliver radiofrequency (RF) energy, further stimulating future collagen production and tightening the skin. Your provider will move the window of the handpiece to a directly adjacent area, administering the needles in the same manner. After finishing your treatment in roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour, they will apply the Vivace Soothe Mask to calm the redness.

Recovery and Results

Vivace Experience Nubo Spa Berkeley

After Vivace, you will have some redness and mild swelling, and you will not be able to notice results right away- it takes time for increased collagen and elastin production to change your complexion and skin texture. After you remove your mask, you should aim to keep your skin makeup-free for at least 1 day and avoid using any harsh products. You should continue to avoid the sun and refrain from working out/sweating for at least the first couple of days. Your Nubo Spa provider may prescribe our Boost Serum to use at home to facilitate better healing and results.

The results will be highly dependent on your body’s ability to produce collagen. You may begin to see significant improvement in 6 weeks, and the best results will settle in about 4 to 6 months after your treatment series. Depending on your cosmetic desires, your provider will give you an idea of how many individual Vivace sessions you will need at your consultation. To best maintain your results, your provider will advise you to use daily sunscreen and incorporate medical-grade skincare products.

FAQ

Is Vivace Experience® painful?

Vivace is not painful because clinicians utilize topical numbing cream before administering the microneedles to the skin.

How many sessions of Vivace Experience® will I need?

The number of sessions you will require will mostly depend on the severity of your aesthetic concerns and your personal rate of healing. Most patients will require at least 3 sessions with at least 1 month of healing between each.

What makes the Vivace Experience® better than other microneedling devices?

Vivace offers radiofrequency energy that works to tighten the skin in addition to collagen rejuvenation, so it is more effective than simple derma rollers. Since the needles penetrate more superficially within the skin, it does not require as much downtime as other similar RF microneedling devices like Morpheus8.
